Reference management software
There are various solutions for managing references and creating bibliographies. Reference management programmes make academic work easier for you. They help you to collect and organise the results of your literature research and to keep an overview at all times. With little effort, you can insert citations into your work and automatically create your bibliography in a citation style of your choice.
The Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) offers all members the reference management programmes Citavi and EndNote for free download via a campus licence. You can learn about the advantages and disadvantages of the programmes in the Citavi and Endnote training courses.
Comparison of reference management software
A comprehensive analysis of the most important reference programmes Citavi, EndNote, EndNote Web, RefWorks, Zotero, Mendeley and JabRef is provided by the “Reference Management Software Comparison”. The study provides an overview of the various functions, operation and licence/price models of reference management programmes, compiled by Dörte Böhner (Helmut-Schmidt-Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg), Thomas Stöber (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München) and Astrid Teichert (UB der Technischen Universität München) in July 2009.
