Writing & publishing

Open Access

The University Library and the University Administration’s Department of Research Services and Research Development provide support in all matters of publishing, long-term archiving and proofing of open access publications, e. h. within the context of third-party funded research projects. We are also happy to advise you on the following:

  • the benefits of open access publishing
  • high impact open access journals which are suitable for funding
  • questions about funding requirements
  • questions about payment forms from publishers, e.g. our VAT number
  • alternative forms of open access publication, such as secondary publication in the University’s open access repository OPUS FAU. Many publishers allow such contributions to be self-archived in a repository like OPUS FAU after 12 months. The SHERPA/RoMEO list offers an overview of publishers‘ terms with regard to archiving. From 2014 onwards, publicly funded researchers also benefit from the new secondary publication rights according to Section 38 (4) Urheberrechtsgesetz.
  • legal questions
  • open access mandates of research funders

The University Library offers offer tailor-made consultancy within an individual UB Coach appointment and training to groups.
