How can I use the computer workstations available at the library?
The computer workstations at the University Library of Erlangen-Nürnberg mainly serve the purpose of literature research. They are for all users to help them with their studies, research, and whatever stage of professional training they are on. Please mind the Terms of Use.
FAU members and all library users with a valid library card and have access to our computer stations. There you have the possibility to do research using the internet, use the library’s electronic services, print out documents and much more.
Students of FAU also have access to CIP-Pools, rooms providing multiple computers to use (Login with FAUcard’s IdM password). Further information on every PC workplace at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), as well as information on the eqiupment, can be found on the homepage[GERMAN] of the Regionales Rechenzentrum Erlangen (RRZE).
Wi-Fi via eduroam is available to FAU members and all participants in the eduroam network, as well as the free BayernWLAN service, at all library locations. For more information, please visit the RRZE website.[GERMAN]
For data storage, FAU members using the library’s internet workstations are automatically redirected to their RRZE home directories.
Data belonging to non-university members is stored on a library server. This server is not backed up regularly, so there is no guarantee that the data stored on it will remain intact. To ensure that no data is lost, we recommend that you save it yourself to a USB flash drive or an external USB hard drive.
