The Main Library in Erlangen is 50 years old. The building was opened to the public on 4th November 1974, but the official opening ceremony did not take place until (one year later) on 4th November 1975. That’s why we want to celebrate anniversary for an entire year in 2024/25 with various events and activities.

From now until the end of 2025, there will be an exhibition on varying topics on the ground floor of the Main Library, through which we will provide exciting insights into the past and present. We have already started with ‘Searching Now and Then – From Card Catalog to AI’. Feel free to pop in!

We will also be posting interesting and surprising tidbits on Instagram (@ub_fau) and Facebook (@UBFAU) each week for a whole year under the motto ‘50 years. 50 weeks. 50 facts’. Follow us and celebrate with us!
