Former Special Subject Collections

Special Subject Collection Educational Research

From 1949 to 2013, the University Library of Erlangen-Nürnberg (UB) managed the Special Subject Collection Educational Research on behalf of, and with financial support from, the German Research Foundation (DFG). The UB comprehensively collected and cataloged publications from Germany and abroad, including literature published outside the book trade. The UB built on a high-quality collection of educational literature from the 18th and 19th centuries in doing so.

Special Subject Collection Philosophy

Also from 1949 to 2013, the University Library of Erlangen-Nürnberg maintained the Special Subject Collection Philosophy on behalf of and with financial support from the German Research Foundation (DFG). To provide comprehensive literature coverage in Germany, the UB collected and cataloged publications from Germany and abroad, including literature published outside the book trade. The collection was built on a substantial stock of high-quality philosophical literature from the 18th and 19th centuries. Sophikon, the Virtual Library of Philosophy, was discontinued when the DFG’s special collection in philosophy ended on December 31, 2014.
