The FAUcard functions as a library card for students, doctoral candidates and employees of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). Before using it for the first time the FAUcard’s library function must be activated via the IdM portal.
Students from other universities and members of the public should register in person. You can obtain a library card free of charge from one of the loan desks at the Main Library, the Science and Technology Branch Library, the Economics and Social Sciences Branch Library or the Education Sciences Branch Library upon presentation of a valid ID card or passport. A fee of 5 € will be charged for the issuing. Members of Technische Hochschule Nürnberg who present their OHMcard when registering can use their OHMcard as their library card.
For library users who are under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must complete and sign the consent form.
The amount of 5 € for the reimbursement of expenses is automatically debited to the account when the new library card for external library users is issued and must be paid within 8 weeks at the payment stations of the library.
Further information on the FAUcard is available from the FAUcard Service Office.
The General Regulations on the Use of Bavarian Public Libraries (ABOB) apply for use of the UB, including loans.
