Funding for Pure Open-Access Publications

In accordance with its Open Science Policy, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg(FAU) offers financial support for open-access publishing. The University Library manages these funds, which are provided by both the university and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), through two separate funds (one for articles and one for books).

Submitting Individual Invoices

Please submit any unpaid invoices relating to pure open-access journals or DFG-funded books for review using the relevant form. We will pay the invoice in full and subsequently send you a bill for any remaining balance to your preferred address in Germany.

Refund

You can request a refund if you have already paid an eligible invoice. To do so, please upload the completed refund form, along with the original invoice and proof of payment (such as a credit card statement), via the application form within six months of the invoice date. The original invoice must be issued to an FAU address and must specify the VAT ID No. DE 132507686.

We cannot process invoices addressed to entities classified as external for VAT purposes, such as university hospitals. If this applies to you, please request a corrected invoice from your publisher.

Pure Open-Access Journals in DEAL

For DEAL publishers Wiley, Springer Nature and Elsevier, fees for pure open-access journals are billed centrally to the library. These fees are initially paid from the publication fund and, depending on eligibility, are then passed on in full or in part to the corresponding author. Once we receive a funding request from the publisher, we will contact you separately to discuss funding options.
