Citavi for Students of the FAU
You need a licence key to activate the full version of Citavi. The campus licence entitles you to use Citavi on two computers. Before the licence key expires, you will receive a new key in good time by e-mail to your FAU user ID.
You can regularly update Citavi. The programme will automatically notify you of new available updates.
Citavi and Citavi Web for FAU Employees
There is a charge for using Citavi or Citavi Web on official computers. Please consult your Regional Computing Centre Erlangen (RRZE) contact person.
With the free Citavi Picker add-on, you can transfer texts and graphics, abstracts, tables of contents and keywords with automatic source citation into your project via a context menu. Incomplete literature references from the web can be searched for in databases or libraries of your choice; the complete information is then transferred to your project.
The Citavi Picker is currently available for:
- Microsoft Edge
- Mozilla Firefox
- Adobe Acrobat
- Google Chrome
You can use the settings file for the University Library to import specific settings that can make it easier for you to work with Citavi within the university network.
The following are offered:
- A much larger preselection of specialist databases with the catalog. In most of these databases, you can search directly via Citavi within the university network.
- Access data for licensed databases.
- Various import filters that are helpful for importing from specialist databases.
- Entry of the SFX link resolver of the University Library (accessible in the program under “Availability Search”).
The current settings file is available directly in Citavi after logging in under Settings – Import.
For licensing reasons, the settings file may only be shared with FAU employees and students. Only individuals working with an FAU campus license can import the settings file. When importing the settings file, the system checks whether a campus license is available. If this is the case, the encrypted passwords are imported.
Please note that importing the file will overwrite existing data. If you want to back up this data first, select Tools – Import/Export Settings in the menu bar. In the following screen, select “Export” and specify the storage location for the resulting *.csd file.
The Citavi support portal provides answers to common problems, manuals, tutorials and animations, as well as chat information.
