OPEN FAU

OPEN FAU is the institutional repository and online publication system of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). Members of FAU can publish scientific works from research and teaching free of charge in open access and archive them for the long term.

Your publication will be permanently available worldwide and will receive a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). It can be easily found via catalogs and search engines and thus cited. The guidelines of OPEN FAU and further information: OPEN FAU FAQ

Copyright

Copyright remains with the author. You only have to transfer a simple right of use.

First Publication

You can publish your work (for example a preprint) for the first time on OPEN FAU. There are no legal obstacles to further publication in journals or monographs or in other repositories.

Secondary Publication

Have you already published your work in a journal or monograph from a publisher? Check in advance whether the publisher agrees to a secondary publication in OPEN FAU. The Open Policy Finder platform gives you an initial overview of the relevant publisher regulations.

What documents can you publish on OPEN FAU?

Dissertations and articles republished from academic journals are the main components of OPEN FAU. In addition, you can publish research reports, book contributions, monographs, postdoctoral theses, preprints, reviews, and articles from academic journals and newspapers in OPEN FAU under open access. Please note our OPEN FAU guidelines.

Publication of Special Materials

For memory-intensive research data sets, use the FAU Zenodo community or RADAR.

You can find other suitable research data repositories on the re3data platform.

Teaching materials, films, images, audio recordings, and complete lectures are best published as Open Educational Resources (OER) directly on StudOn. There you can update the OER regularly.

If the teaching materials are not to be updated, you can publish them in OPEN FAU. They will be archived there for the long term and assigned a DOI.
