ERASMUS Library Staff Week 2026

International Erasmus guests and University Library staff at the Old University Library

From October 5 to 9, the University Library hosted an Erasmus Library Staff Week. The event welcomed 14 international colleagues from nine different countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czechia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, and Turkey). The week was entirely dedicated to international dialogue, and we exchanged library experiences across borders and learned a great deal from one another.

Under the theme “Preserving the Old, Embracing the Future – Challenges in Libraries Today,” we offered our guests a diverse program. This included insights into digitization, a tour of the Old University Library, a playful exploration of the Main Library through the escape game “Legends & Literacy,” a workshop on research data management, and numerous lectures on current topics and the future of academic libraries. In keeping with the theme, all guests brought interesting presentations from their home libraries.

The library-focused program was rounded out by social evenings in Erlangen, Fürth, and Nuremberg. Overall, the Erasmus Library Staff Week 2026 was a complete success thanks to the enthusiastic guests and the dedicated efforts of our colleagues at the University Library.
