Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is committed to regularly revising the institutional principles for the implementation of Open Science. The new version of the Open Science Policy was adopted on 10 July 2024 and has since been published in German and English on the Zenodo repository.

The main objective of Open Science is clearly defined: All elements of the academic teaching and research process must be transparent, accessible and reusable. The policy is an important aid for all FAU members so that they can publish their research and teaching results, software and data in line with established guidelines.

The development and adaptation of the Open Science Policy was carried out in close cooperation with many experts at FAU, including the Chief Information Officer, the Open Access Officer, university management and service facilities such as the University Library, the Institute for Learning Innovation, the Regional Computing Centre Erlangen, FAU CRIS and the Competence Unit Research Data and Information.
