Zotero is a free and open-source program for managing literature. It can be used as a desktop version on various operating systems.
Zotero can help you with the following:
- Import and export bibliographic data from library catalogs and databases. Import from other reference management programs.
- Manage your literature by recording sources using predefined document types.
- Organizing Knowledge: Indexing content through abstracts, tables of contents, keywords, comments, and quotations.
- Inserting references directly into the text: Access your Zotero library directly while writing in your word processing program.
- The bibliography is automatically created according to the citation style you selected.
You can download Zotero for Desktop for free at https://www.zotero.org/. The program is available for the following operating systems: Mac, Windows, and Linux.
There is also an app available for iOS.
The free Zotero Connector browser extension allows you to transfer references from websites to your Zotero library with automatic citation. Zotero Connector is currently available for the following browsers:
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
- Safari
