The University Library Erlangen-Nürnberg has a significant collection of botanical, zoological, and anatomical works. A large part of this collection comes from the collection of the Nuremberg physician and botanist Christoph Jakob Trew (1695–1769).

Thanks to the support of the Universitätsbund Erlangen-Nürnberg, the University Library was able to add an important work by Georg Wolfgang Knorr to its collection.

The two-volume work Delices de la Nature, printed in Nuremberg in 1779, is not yet available in any Bavarian library and features 91 hand-colored copperplate engravings of birds, shells, amphibians, fish, corals, quadrupeds (four-legged animals), etc.
