Databases
DBIS The University Library Erlangen-Nürnberg (UB) provides access to a wide range of academic CD-ROM and online databases for all subjects via the Database Information System (DBIS). The Database Information System is a joint service offered by academic libraries that allows users to search databases. The databases available are displayed according to subject or in an alphabetical list of all titles. It is also possible to search titles and content descriptions, making it easier for you to find databases that are relevant for your research. In addition to the DBIS, the list of databases that the UB has licences for is included in the catalogue and linked to the DBIS. It does not include electronic journals or electronic copies of doctoral and habilitation theses; these are available in the Electronic Journal Library and via the UB’s document server OPEN FAU.
You can find out whether the literature found in databases is available at the UB by searching in our catalogue or in the Electronic Journal Library (EZB). It is often possible to do this directly from the database via the SFX link service.
Information on how to process your search results using reference management software is available on our pages about Citavi and Endnote.
Staff and students at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) should normally be able to access the databases from outside the university network. Users who have a library card but are not members of the University can use some of the databases by logging in with their user number and password.
