Funding for open access will change as of January 1, 2026: The funding cap for Open Access publishing fees of €3,000 gross will be applied to articles originating from DFG projects. Additionally, the subsidy will be lowered to €1,400 for all papers. Be vigilant regarding the quality of journals—the Open Access Department is here to advise you!

The University Press of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg “FAU University Press” has been included in important international open access catalogs: the Open Access Publishing in European Networks (OAPEN) and the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB).

By participating in the Germany-wide Springer Nature Transformative Agreement, the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität is offering its members and those of the University Hospital read-only access to all Nature journals from now until the end of 2028.
