They can also download documents ordered through the FAUdok document delivery service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Non-university members<\/strong> can access our licensed electronic media from Internet workstations located in each library. <a href=\"https:\/\/dbis.ur.de\/UBEN\/browse\/collections\/1040\/?availability-filter-free=on&amp;availability-filter-local=on&amp;lang=en\">Some databases<\/a> can be accessed from outside the university. A valid library card is required. Much of our electronic media is freely available and can be accessed from home.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rrze-elements-collapsibles \"><div class=\"accordion\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-rrze-elements-collapse \"><div class=\"accordion-group \"><h2 class=\"accordion-heading\"><button class=\"accordion-toggle\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-name=\"vpn-for-staff-and-students-at-the-university\" data-href=\"#vpn-for-staff-and-students-at-the-university\" type=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"vpn-for-staff-and-students-at-the-university-section\" id=\"vpn-for-staff-and-students-at-the-university\" data-media-accordion-image-id=\"0\" data-media-accordion-image-url=\"\" data-media-accordion-image-alt=\"\" data-media-accordion-image-caption=\"\">VPN for staff and students at the University<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"vpn-for-staff-and-students-at-the-university-section\" class=\"accordion-body\" aria-labelledby=\"vpn-for-staff-and-students-at-the-university\" role=\"region\" name=\"vpn-for-staff-and-students-at-the-university\"><div class=\"accordion-inner clearfix\">\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using the eduVPN software, you can access the FAU university network from outside the university. This will provide you with a unique IP address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here&#8217;s how to proceed:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Download and install the software: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eduvpn.org\/\">Download eduVPN<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under Organization Access, select Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-N\u00fcrnberg and enter your IdM ID and password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select &#8222;Full Tunnel&#8220; and move the slider to the right.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can now access our e-media. To do so, all you need is your IdM username and password; you do not need to install any additional software. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the <a href=\"https:\/\/dbis.ur.de\/UBEN\/\">Database Information System (DBIS)<\/a>, a link to the Shibboleth login is provided for electronic media that can be accessed via Shibboleth. All databases that can be accessed via Shibboleth are listed in the collection &#8218;Datenba<a href=\"https:\/\/dbis.ur.de\/UBEN\/browse\/collections\/851\/?availability-filter-free=on&amp;availability-filter-local=on\">nken mit Shibboleth-Zugriff<\/a>&#8218; (databases with Shibboleth access).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here&#8217;s how to proceed:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the publication via a catalogue, Electronic Journals Library or DBIS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The publication&#8217;s login page will have an option such as &#8218;<strong>Institutional login<\/strong>&#8218;, &#8218;<strong>Select your region or group<\/strong>&#8218; or &#8218;<strong>Shibboleth login<\/strong>&#8218;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose &#8218;<strong>Friedrich-Alexander-Universit\u00e4t Erlangen-N\u00fcrnberg<\/strong>&#8218; from the list of institutions. In some cases you will be shown a search tool or will be asked to select a broader category first (e.g. &#8218;<strong>German Higher Education and Research<\/strong>&#8218; or &#8218;<strong>Deutschland DFN-AAI<\/strong>&#8218;).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will then be redirected to RRZE&#8217;s single sign-on service, where you should log in using you IdM username and password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shibboleth&#8217;s terms of use are shown the first time you log on and you must accept them before you can continue. The first time you log on you will then see a notice from the provider on the transferred data (digital ID card), which you must also confirm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After this confirmation you will be directed back to the provider&#8217;s page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rrze-elements-collapse \"><div class=\"accordion-group \"><h2 class=\"accordion-heading\"><button class=\"accordion-toggle\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-name=\"logging-in-via-ldap-or-with-your-ub-user-number\" data-href=\"#logging-in-via-ldap-or-with-your-ub-user-number\" type=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"logging-in-via-ldap-or-with-your-ub-user-number-section\" id=\"logging-in-via-ldap-or-with-your-ub-user-number\" data-media-accordion-image-id=\"0\" data-media-accordion-image-url=\"\" data-media-accordion-image-alt=\"\" data-media-accordion-image-caption=\"\">Logging in via LDAP or with your UB user number<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"logging-in-via-ldap-or-with-your-ub-user-number-section\" class=\"accordion-body\" aria-labelledby=\"logging-in-via-ldap-or-with-your-ub-user-number\" role=\"region\" name=\"logging-in-via-ldap-or-with-your-ub-user-number\"><div class=\"accordion-inner clearfix\">\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UB users can access certain electronic media (databases, electronic journals, e-books) from outside the university network without using VPN. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here&#8217;s how to proceed:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select your database in the Database Information System (DBIS). All databases with this access option can be found by external library users in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dbis.ur.de\/UBEN\/browse\/collections\/1040\/?availability-filter-free=on&amp;availability-filter-local=on&amp;availability-filter-none=on\">Remote access for non-university members collection<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access the database via the Access via authentication methods&nbsp;(HAN) or CD-ROM Network link.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log in as an employee or student using your IdM credentials, or as a non-university member using your UB ID and corresponding password.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rrze-elements-notice \"><div class=\"notice notice-hinweis\"><div class=\"icon-box\"><svg class=\"icon icon-symbols-notifications\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><use href=\"#symbols-notifications\"><\/use><\/svg><\/div><div>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Please note<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">that if you requested a new catalog password, you must first log in to the catalog with it before using it for external database access.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rrze-elements-collapse \"><div class=\"accordion-group \"><h2 class=\"accordion-heading\"><button class=\"accordion-toggle\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-name=\"accessing-a-database-from-outside-the-network-via-personal-login\" data-href=\"#accessing-a-database-from-outside-the-network-via-personal-login\" type=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"accessing-a-database-from-outside-the-network-via-personal-login-section\" id=\"accessing-a-database-from-outside-the-network-via-personal-login\" data-media-accordion-image-id=\"0\" data-media-accordion-image-url=\"\" data-media-accordion-image-alt=\"\" data-media-accordion-image-caption=\"\">Accessing a database from outside the network via personal login<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"accessing-a-database-from-outside-the-network-via-personal-login-section\" class=\"accordion-body\" aria-labelledby=\"accessing-a-database-from-outside-the-network-via-personal-login\" role=\"region\" name=\"accessing-a-database-from-outside-the-network-via-personal-login\"><div class=\"accordion-inner clearfix\">\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Personal IDs for Employees and Students<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can apply for a personal ID for some databases, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/dbis.ur.de\/UBEN\/resources\/1168\">Beck-Online<\/a>. The relevant forms and instructions can be found in the database descriptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Registration for National Licenses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Individuals residing in Germany can access databases licensed for private use via a national license at no cost.
