University Library during Corona Pandemic
For further questions please contact the online information desk.
We will also keep you informed about current developments via our website as well as via Facebook and Twitter.
Read also the Information on the coronavirus and its impact on the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg.
The reading rooms in the Main Library, the Science and Technology Branch Library, the Economic and Social Sciences Branch Library, the Educational Science Branch Library and the Departmental Library Law (02JU) are open. Please book your desk via the booking system RSVP.
In the departmental libraries, please report to the librarian who will assign you a study place after you have filled out the contact form.
The hygiene concept of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) applies in conjunction with the regulations of the Infection Protection Measures Ordinance, which stipulates an FFP2 mask requirement for libraries. FAU only provides study rooms and study spaces on the condition that all hygiene measures at FAU are complied with. Unfortunately, it is therefore not possible to be in the rooms of the University Library without an FFP2 mask. This also applies to users who present a certificate exempting them from the mask requirement.
From now on, interlibrary loan copy orders can be delivered to you electronically because of the current Corona regulations. This applies for a limited period until 31 July 2021. For each order delivered, 1.50 euros will be charged to your account.
In the current situation, the VG Wort has again allowed the transmission of interlibrary loan copies in electronic form to end users in a letter dated 31 March 2021.
Please follow the instructions:
You can continue to renew borrowed media online.
Log in to the catalogue with your library card number and password on the Account / Renewal tab. The account balance shows all borrowed media. You now have the possibility to extend the loan period of individual items or to renew the entire account. Please note that you can only renew media ten working days before the loan period ends.
Media from the open access collection (P25, P30) and the textbook collection (P80) are currently not freely accessible in the Educational Science Branch Library (EZB). The books must be ordered via the catalogue and can be collected from the circulation desk on the next working day.
Deliveries to one of the other three central libraries are also possible.
You can reserve borrowed books at any time.
The library card number is an 11-digit number. You will find the library card number on your FAUcard or your library card starting with 028 … or 056 … (for library users who have registered with their OHMcard).
The password is preset to the day, month and year of your birthday, for example 17051982, which is an identification feature to protect your personal data from unauthorized access.
Please change this password in the catalogue via the function Account / Renewal – Personal Data – Change Password to a personal password. This password must have at least 8 and at most 12 characters. You can use letters, numbers, umlauts and special characters – with the exception of backslash \ and asterisk = star *. Please note that the password is case-sensitive.
We recommend that you change your password regularly.
At the four central locations, fees can be paid again at the payment stations. Please pay attention to the general distance rules. The keyboard is cleaned regularly.
Public photocopiers, printers and book scanners can be used again.
Computer workstations can be used again in the open libraries as of March 10.
The University Library is only offering many different online training courses until further notice.
