The issuing of library cards on site is currently possible to a limited extent.
The University Library offers a free temporary solution as part of its state library duties.
If you live in Middle Franconia and are at least 16 years old, you can apply for a free temporary user ID (UB-ID) via a request to the online information desk, through which you can access some of the e-books, e-journals and online databases licensed by the University Library. In addition, up to 10 orders for printed books (no interlibrary loan) are possible.
To be able to pick up ordered books, the temporary user ID (UB-ID) must first be converted into a regular library card at the Main Library, the Science and Technology Branch Library, the Economic and Social Sciences Branch Library or the Educational Science Branch Library before the books can be picked up. This costs a one-time fee of 5 euros. With a library card you can then use all the services of the university library permanently.
Library cards are issued in the Main Library from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Educational Science Branch Library from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Science and Technology Branch Library and in the Economic and Social Science Branch Library from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The validity of the temporary user ID (UB-ID) is expected to end on 31.3.2021.
